Oscar Wilde

A group of tourists admire Maggi Hambling’s sculpture, “A Conversation With Oscar Wilde 1854-1900,” located at the lower end of Adelaide Street near Trafalgar Square. Unveiled in November 1998, the green granite sarcophagus is inscribed with a quotation from his play Lady Windermere’s Fan: “We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars”.
